I started taking photos when I was 11 years old. My first camera was a little 110 instant film one. I took photos on school trips, holidays and whenever I was able to.
My first 35mm film camera was one of the 'point-n-shoot' things and several more probably followed it... I still have several of them hidden away somewhere! They allowed me to take photos of my family, children, parties, Christenings, Weddings, pets and holidays. One thing I found frustrating was that everyone was enjoying themselves while I was taking the photos....
Digital photography came into my life around 20 years ago as a little Kodak camera, along with it was my first desktop computer and printer/scanner.
The little Kodak went with me virtually everywhere, even to the playgroups I worked at. I took photos of the children for special occasions, of them playing and the displays of their work. Several years and hundreds of photos later my trusty little Kodak started to go haywire. Some of the images it took came out in glorious acid technicolour..... And like my first 35mm camera it was replaced by several others over the years.
Eventually I bought my first professional dslr camera and I've never taken so many photos! My poor Nikon has been everywhere - even my bathroom to catch my cats in action!
I must admit I was very apprehensive when it came to all of the different settings and then there was all of the functions..... Further confusion came when I found the editing 'stuff' in the camera...
To gain confidence I decided to enrol on a photography course. I applied to my local College thinking I would be doing a nightclass..... Nope... It turned out to be 15 hours a week and I would be with a bunch of teenagers.....
Luckily for me the group I'm with are all brilliant! They're great to work with and they have bundles of patience! They do ask questions, if I know the answer I tell them and they help me with the computer stuff......
I'm pleased I'm doing the course as I have learnt there is so much more to photography....
